4:00pm, Monday
Dont fret, Lizzie, well find something, and if we dont well keep coming back. Eliza nodded. The two Yanks were friends, all day they spoke of past adventures.
Hey, Bill, remember that time on the mesa in New Mexico when that Navajo guy tried to turn a feather into gold? How old were we? Fourteen or so? Bill would nod and smile. He went down by the small river and tested the current. It was swift, but not dangerous. Eliza looked around warily. She had a strange feeling that she was being watched. She crawled into her tent and fell into an uneasy sleep. She smelled something burning, leapt out of her bag and stumbled into the dawn air. Everyone else stood there staring at the four fires located where some of the old house had been. Eliza felt like she was choking on the heavy air. She waved and yelled at Alan and Billy to put out the fires.

People all around were screaming and some were trying to help by pouring water on the houses next to the houses on fire. Tegan caught sight of Aric, the leader of the village.
Aric, who did this? Was it Monsters? Why are they doing this? Aric nodded.
Aye, it had to be them. Eda said she saw them going into the woods.
When is this going to end? We must try to reason with them. Ive already lost a husband; I cant lose my son. Gavin watched Elstan for Tegan and felt a tug on his tunic. He bent down to hear Elstan.
Uncle, who keeps burning the houses? Is it God? Gavin shook his head.
Its the mist monsters who turn invisible right before they strike; they have hair all over their bodies which hangs down to the ground. They have horrible sharp horns, used to skewer men. Cadal, the veteran warrior, walked past and turned to Gavin.
Boy, dont scare the young ones. We found the two men who did it. Have courage, son. He said gruffly and marched past.
